PetSafe GPS Locator
How It Works
It's simple to keep your dog safe.
The PetSafe® GPS Locator™ collar makes it easy to find your roaming pet and bring him home again. PetSafe has a state-of-the-art technology that uses assisted global positioning system (AGPS) tracking to pinpoint your dog's location, day and night.
Finding your dog with the PetSafe GPS Locator is as easy as 1-2-3.
- Program a Home Zone™ area for your dog. If he roams outside of the Home Zone, the PetSafe GPS Locator identifies the event as an escape or boundary violation, and notifies you via phone, email or text message.
- The PetSafe GPS Locator shifts into Locate Mode, continually monitoring your dog's location and providing GPS coordinates to your personal PetSafe GPS Locator website.
- Once alerted, either use the website or contact a customer care specialist to help track your dog. The Customer Care Specialist can remain on the line with you until you and your dog are back together again. Remember, our GPS tracking specialists are on duty 24/7/365 days a year, providing full-time protection for your dog.
Gain a greater sense of security without limiting your lifestyle.
When you want to take your dog for a walk, simply put the PetSafe GPS Locator into Walk Mode. If your dog is outside of the Home Zone when Walk Mode expires after 45 minutes, a boundary violation is initiated. Of course, if you and your pal like long walks, you can extend the Walk Mode an additional 45 minutes before the original minutes expire.
We've Got You Covered.
As a safety precaution, you also receive a phone call, text message, and/or e-mail message when the batteries on the PetSafe GPS Locator run low and need to be recharged or replaced. Your system includes an extra set of 2 rechargeable batteries and a charger. When you get a Low Battery Alert simply swap out the batteries in the unit, and recharge the batteries you removed. There is no need for the collar to be off the dog for 4-6 hours while the batteries recharge, which would leave your dog unprotected during an escape without the collar. Your dog has protection 24/7/365.
Typical battery life is approximately 4-5 days.
This Global Positioning Technology allows you to safely and quickly locate your pet in the event that it is lost. PetSafe's GPS Locator uses the GPT tracking to pinpoint your dog's location day or night. You set your Home Zone area, and the system notifies you via text message, email, or call, when your dog crosses the boundary. Once you receive an alert, our Customer Care Specialists stay on the line with you until you and your pet are back together. Collar is water resistant. To use the product, you will have to dial a toll-free number to activate. You will need your GPS Locator serial number, home/mobile telephone numbers, email addresses, and name of pet.

Common questions:
How accurate is GPS? Global Positioning Systems (GPS) were originally developed by the U.S. Department of Defense. The satellite-based system is extremely accurate, typically pinpointing a location within a few feet.
What is the recommended minimum/maximum range for my Home Zone GPS boundary? Your PetSafe GPS Locator works in a Home Zone that extends from a center point that you establish. By default, the Home Zone radius is set at 300 feet. It can be adjusted to as high as 50 miles away.
Will my dog feel anything when crossing his Home Zone boundary? Nothing at all. The PetSafe GPS Locator collar is not a Static Correction product, it is only enabled for tracking.
